Go Directly to Jail – and Write!

April 5, 2015

Writers Victoria tells us that the National Trust has Cells for Writers available at the Old Melbourne Gaol!

O Henry used the time to write short stories. The concept of it inspired Lord Byron to write one of his most famous poems. Dostoevsky’s experience shaped his perceptions on life and his later literary works. Now Writers Victoria wants you to emulate these illustrious writers and go to jail.

Writers will be housed in a cell with just a chair, a table and their imagination. Cells are available for one, two or three month rentals. One catch: you must have a current Police Check before commencing.
